Police in the Bahamas have released a Michigan man, Brian Hooker, who reported the disappearance of his wife Lynette after she allegedly fell overboard during a boating trip. The incident occurred on April 4 as the couple traveled aboard an 8-foot motorboat between Hope Town and Elbow Cay.

Following extensive questioning, Hooker was released on April 8, with officials stating that prosecutors recommended against filing charges at this time. Hooker, who was emotional and hopeful about his wife’s fate, plans to continue searching for her. “I won’t be able to stop looking,” he said.

According to police, Lynette Hooker fell overboard when she had the boat's keys, which caused the engine to shut off, leading Brian Hooker to paddle ashore. When he reached land, he reported his wife's disappearance early the next morning. Authorities noted that strong currents could have carried her away quickly.

Brian Hooker has denied any wrongdoing, as stated by his attorney. The couple, married for over 20 years, often shared their adventures on their 'Sailing Hookers' Facebook page, where they posted videos of their excursions throughout the Caribbean.

Lynette's daughter expressed doubts over her mother's ability to simply fall off the boat, highlighting her experience in sailing. Meanwhile, a history of conflict in their relationship has emerged, with past accusations of assault between the couple.

The U.S. Coast Guard is conducting a separate investigation into the disappearance.
