Serena Williams Withdraws from Wimbledon Doubles After Knee Injury
Serena Williams, 44, has pulled out of her scheduled Wimbledon doubles partnership with older sister Venus Williams after suffering a knee injury during her match against Australia’s Maya Jovic. The sisters, who are six-time doubles champions at the All England Club, were slated to reunite on a Grand Slam court for the first time since 2022.
Williams was deemed unfit to compete after the injury, with Wimbledon officials saying she was “not able to undertake” her responsibilities. In a post on Instagram, the champion expressed her sadness: “I did everything I could to be ready, but unfortunately my knee just isn’t ready to compete.”
