Ukraine says it has struck Russia’s Bashneft‑Novoil refinery in Bashkortostan and the Slavneft‑Yanos refinery in Yaroslavl, aiming to cut oil revenues that fuel Moscow’s war.
President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the two refineries lie 1,300 km and 700 km from the Ukrainian border respectively, and that Ukrainian patrol vessels in the Black Sea hit reportedly Russian tankers carrying sanctioned oil.
Yaroslavl regional governor Mikhail Evraev confirmed that Slavneft‑Yanos was engulfed in fire after “the largest enemy drone attack,” with four people injured. He reported that 93 drones were shot down over the region overnight.
At the same time, Ukraine said 11 civilians were killed in recent Russian strikes, and the city of Kherson suffered a power blackout after a “critical infrastructure” hit.
Russia claims its forces intercepted 605 Ukrainian drones overnight and targeted fuel, energy and transport facilities.
These attacks underscore the escalating intensity of the conflict as both sides target critical infrastructure while the front lines remain largely static.
