Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared a video showing a street vendor being hunted by a drone before it exploded.
The man in the video, 52‑year‑old vegetable seller Yuriy, verified by the BBC, managed to survive but sustained shrapnel wounds and a concussion.
The attack, known in Ukraine as "human safari", is a method of remotely‑operated drones used by Russia to terrorise front‑line residents.
The incident took place in Kherson, a city only a few miles from the front line.
Russia has repeatedly denied deliberate targeting civilians in this operation.
BBC's Paul Adams reports from Kyiv.
