UK rapper Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, recently took the witness stand at the District Court of Western Australia, saying the "vibes were good" with the woman he is accused of raping. The trial, which began a week earlier, revolves around alleged sexual assault that allegedly occurred in a hotel after a performance in the Perth suburb of Hillarys.

Barrientos, 30, pleaded not guilty to six counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault causing bodily harm, and one count of strangulation. He avoided admitting sexual contact that went beyond liaison in conversation and denied touching her breast or passing his hands below her waist.

He asserted that they had "vibes" during a conversation in the hotel after they first met backstage, and that his security guard removed her phone as a “standard practice” to protect privacy. The court heard that the pair had engaged in consensual sex before his conduct escalated.

The case has drawn attention to the intersection of internet stardom and legal responsibility, highlighting the rapper’s reach of 1.8 million YouTube subscribers, 3 million TikTok followers and 2.4 million Instagram fans. He has been held on bail, was allowed to return to the United Kingdom in September, and now stands before the court in Western Australia.
